Love, Yes More! by Rhett

Dear Z,

In response to your post Love No More!, let me say this; I agree almost completely with your post, except for one thing.  First, with what I agree:

I agree about the use of the word “love”.  I used to throw that word around like a rope over anything that moved.  I used it to get what I wanted, or what I thought I wanted.  It came in very handy and served its purpose when all I cared about was the sound of belt buckles hittin’ the floor.

Then I met her.  The one that taught me so much about life and love.  I tried my sure fire git-in-your-pants tricks on her but she just laughed.  I used the word love and she just shook her head.  She told me I did not have any idea what love meant and that first I had to love myself.  Of course, she was right.  I did not.  Luckily, she saw somethin’ in me and she saved me.  She helped me understand that first I had to accept who I was, baggage and all.  Then she showed me what is possible with love.  That it is about respect and holdin’ hands and bein’ with someone just to be.  That it is about thinkin’ and carin’ and not havin’ to say you are sorry.  That it is about two as one and each bein’ for the other and both not feelin’ complete without the other.  It was almost indescribable and I think that is part of the challenge; you do not know you have until you do.  I you have to ask the other, you are clearly not there.

Now with what I disagree; you must be open to sayin’ it again, you must be open to hearin’ it again.  That is our reason for bein’.  That is what it is all about.  There is no higher achievement in life than true love.  I have seen it in one other couple and I had it once.  I hope you have the urge to say it again and I hope you hear it from someone who knows what it means.  Just try to take precautions with your heart and enjoy the journey.  Love no more?!  No; love, yes more!

This is a extremely insightful reflection. A pleasure to stumble across. As I have heard these words ” Love myself ” in conversation with this writer before. Gives one something to think upon
